One of our fave stores is getting an upgrade. Aritzia is giving its Markham location a major expansion.

The new boutique will be available to check out on October 6 at the CF Markville shopping center.

Aritzia has become a total fan-favourite spot to shop, especially in the last few years. Many apparel products have gone viral, like the Melina Pant, and for good reason. The collections are full of staple pieces that you need in your wardrobe to create that effortlessly chic look.

The Markham boutique will be filled with curated artwork and custom furniture, just like all of the other locations. Plus, the Style Advisors will offer personalized styling and tailored advice so that you can be sure to have the best shopping experience possible.

The in-house brands that you’ll get to browse include Wilfred, Babaton, Tna, The Super Puff™, and Sunday Best.

Not only is the store getting a revamp, but it’s also getting an A-OK Cafe, which is the brand’s signature in-house coffee shop.

This will be the fifth Aritizia store in the GTA to get one of these! The coffee shop will be packed with locally baked goods, micro-ground teas, iced beverages, and more from its gourmet drinks menu.

It’ll also be the very first A-OK Cafe to sample the newly expanded menu which offers a selection of alcohol including wine, beer, and cocktails, and small plates featuring paté, burrata, and olives. How cool is that?

Be sure to check out the revamped Aritzia Markham location once it opens!

Mango is known for its minimalistic, yet trendy items that are averagely priced. If you’ve never heard of or seen the brand before, you can pretty much compare it to a Zara.

We recently reported that a Mango location will be at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre and is taking up a spot that once belonged to a Victoria’s Secret.

Currently, since Canada doesn’t have any Mango stores, we’ve only ever been able to shop the brand in person at select Hudson’s Bay locations.

Retail Insider has also stated that Mango has wanted to enter Canada for quite some time now and has finally partnered with Fox Group to make it happen.

Giant Tiger is now among the list of brands that have decided to expand its physical locations throughout Canada.

The Canadian discount retailer has plans to open 41 more locations across the country, which would bring total store operations to 300.

Giant Tiger is very well-known in Canada for its low prices on clothing, food, footwear, housewares, toys—basically everything you could need. Since the chain does sell groceries, it’s been allowed to keep stores open during the pandemic. This meant incoming revenue at a time where other retailers weren’t so fortunate.

The company also has an e-commerce site where you can shop pretty much the entire offering that’s available in store.

The site also gives the option to either pick up purchases at your local Giant Tiger or get at-home delivery. In addition, the retailer recently opened a distribution center in Johnstown, Ontario, to fulfill online orders.

With a large number of brand-new spots opening, over 1,500 new jobs for Canadians could be available.

Store locations and specific dates have yet to be released, but we can expect some new Giant Tiger stores to pop-up soon!

Brands That Have Expanded In Canada During The Pandemic

Calling all Canadian Sephora fanatics! The beauty company will be opening around 50 stores throughout Canada over the next three years. To date, Sephora operates over 80 stores all across the country.

The strategic timing of this announcement follows Ulta Beauty’s decision to no longer expand storefronts in Canada.

Although makeup lovers have been disappointed by Ulta’s decision, this is great news for Sephora, as Ulta Beauty would be one of the brand’s largest competitors in the market.

According to Globe and Mail, the growth of the company will occur in areas with around 100,000 to 300,000 residents. So, if you’re in a populated area, you could be lucky enough to get a brand new Sephora store close by!

Currently, Sephora distribution centers are located in Toronto and Vancouver, but the company now has plans to begin fulfilling online orders from its stores as well. It’s also seeking to open standalone retail spaces, rather than shops inside of malls.

Currently, the China-based company, with its mission to help people improve their sleep, is setting its vision on increasing its growth within Canada.

De Rucci’s first two Canadian stores opened two years ago in Vancouver. Their third store opened in December in Markham, Ontario, in the SmartCentre Markham Woodside Plaza, with about 8,300 square feet. “It boasts a luxury feel,” says Lawrence Mosselson, VP of leasing and consulting with S&H Realty Corp., which works with DeRucci on site selection in Ontario. DeRucci plans on further expansion in Canada, with a focus on the GTA and Vancouver, in shopping plazas, enclosed shopping centres, and standalone sites. Stores will range from 3,000 to 5,000 square feet. Once they garner brand recognition in these markets, they will further expand to other Canadian cities. The intent going forward is to open smaller, satellite showrooms,” Mosselson says.
