Turo (the Airbnb for Cars) Lets You Cruise the Streets in Classic Cars
While a classic car may be cool in theory – especially when it comes to breezy Sunday summer drives and local road trips – purchasing one is a luxury most of us can’t afford.
Let’s be honest; it makes little sense these days to have any sort of car in Toronto, let alone a classic car, which is likely in need of repairs before it hits the road.
Helping your summer Sunday Funday cause, however, Turo – the Airbnb for cars that launched in Canada in 2016 – lets you easily rent the types of classic cars that draw stares, generate social media “likes,” and ensure you arrive in style to a special occasion or date night.
There are a handful of classic cars available in Toronto and nearby road trip destination Montreal, but also in other popular destinations for weekends away, like Boston, New York City, Phoenix, and California (hello, Pacific Coast Highway).
Each classic car available on Turo is individually reviewed and approved by the Turo team to ensure they meet the company’s safety standards.
Here are some currently available in and around Toronto.
Outside of Toronto in Burlington, you can rent a 1962 Ford Galaxie Convertible for $212 per day – and one with automatic transmission. The iconic ragtop from the golden era is complete with turquoise bench seats on white.
A fire engine red 1960 Austin Healey Sprite MKII convertible is available for rent in Toronto for just $58 per day – this one is sure to turn heads on city streets.
Relive the 80s in this 1988 Chevrolet Corvette, available for rent in Toronto for $288 per day.
This well-kept Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign from the late 80s – available for rent in Mississauga for $266 per day – features automatic transmission and a sunroof.
It’s worth the drive to Bellville to cruise around in this show-stopping red 1964 Porsche 356C, available for rent for $193 per day.
