Walmart has been quietly testing the delivery of groceries ordered online and delivered to select Toronto condos. Canadian Grocer is reporting that Walmart wants to expand their delivery capabilities and will begin to make the service available to more homes in the city core.
What’s interesting about the move is that Walmart has expressed that it will not solely rely on their own in-house delivery team, but will also utilize “uber-style” services to help fulfill grocery orders.
Clearly home delivery of groceries is the inevitable next step for many Canadian households and Walmart looks to tap into that.
We think the affordability of Walmart’s product will greatly appeal to a lot of Toronto’s shoppers. While households may still opt to buy their produce from traditional grocery stores and our local markets, the ability to have staples like toothpaste, toilet paper, cereal, and more delivered to your home seems very appealing.
Would you order grocery’s online from Walmart?
