Let’s be honest — there are few things more satisfying than watching makeup routines. Even if we’re not putting on makeup everyday these days due to quarantine, it doesn’t mean you can’t still indulge in a little Youtube marathon, right? If you thought that your favourite celebrities never did their own makeup, then think again because we’ve lined up 10 fascinating videos to watch documenting their beauty and makeup routines. What’s fun is you might even pick up a tip or trick, or two as they’ve likely learned their beauty skills from makeup pros!

Here are 10 celebrity makeup routines to watch!

Jessica Alba

In this video, Jessica Alba walks us through how to achieve a smoky eye, but she also gives us a peek into her skincare routine. Alba uses a couple different beauty tools to help de-puff her face and what’s brilliant is the fact that she uses the Nurse Jamie beauty tools to help her moisturizer sink in. Alba reveals that she used to be super intimidated to do her own eyeshadow but the trick is to use a really fluffy brush to blend, blend, blend!

Rihanna

It’s to get ready with Riri as she shows off how she does her going-out makeup. One of Rihanna’s tricks is to not contour your face the way you see it done in a beauty tutorial because, duh, we all have different shaped faces! The Fenty Beauty queen reveals that she can do her full face in either 10 minutes (gasp!) or hours — it varys depending on her mood.

Kylie Jenner

We couldn’t have a beauty routine list and not include King Kylie. The Kylie Cosmetics magnate takes us through her everyday makeup look that is constantly changing but now that she’s a mom, it needs to be quick. We love that Kylie finds it therapeutic to do her own makeup — she’ll normally put music on and really enjoy the whole process.

Jenna Dewan

Next up is Jenna Dewan and her easy, breezy 10 minute makeup routine. Jenna’s upfront and reveals that she rarely does her own makeup but when she does, she likes it super simple and quick. Dewan reveals that she likes to use her fingers for concealer application because it allows for it to look more natural.

Hilary Duff

Superstar and mama Hilary Duff is all about dewy skin and taking care of your skin. She starts this vid with a bit of skincare and then it goes into her makeup routine. Take note of how Hil works her BeautyBlender — she kind of rolls it and works it to really blend the product in for a seamless finish.

Molly-Mae Hague

Next up is Love Island UK superstar Molly-Mae. In this video, she takes us through her everyday routine as well as some tips and tricks she learned from some of the girls in the Love Island villa.

Shay Mitchell

Get ready to take notes while you watch Shay Mitchell’s everyday makeup routine. We love that she keeps the video fun and real with her commentary and all the faces she makes while she applies products.

Madelaine Petsch

Take a peek into Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch’s beauty routine in this video. Believe it or not, her full routine is a whopping 38 steps between skincare and beauty. Madelaine is a beauty tool lover and you’ll see how she uses some of them when you watch! She learned how to do her makeup from a very young age so you can bet that she knows what’s what in the beauty world.

Lily Aldridge

Next up is model Lily Aldridge and she shows us how she gets ready. Aldridge is a fan of clean and natural makeup products and she uses brands like RMS Beauty. Her video is so fun to watch as she shows that she’s just like us when applying her makeup.

Cindy Crawford

Last but certainly not least is supermodel Cindy Crawford. The ’90s icon walks us through her typical morning routine and it starts with skincare, of course! Believe it or not, when Cindy started modelling, she had no idea about makeup at all. We can definitely say that she’s come a long way!

If you’re bored at home and trying to figure out how to fill your days, it’s time to get crafty and creative with your wardrobe! Upcycling items you already have is a great way to save money and be more sustainable by giving your old clothes a second chance at life before getting rid of them. There are tons of ways you can upcycle things in your closet, no matter what skill level you’re at in the DIY department. Most of these are super easy, along with a couple that require some sewing skills.

Here are 10 ways to upcycle items that you already have in your wardrobe!

T-Shirt Bleaching

Dyeing clothes with bleach is an easy and effective way to transform them and in this video TheDanocracy shows three different techniques to bleach your clothing in a creative way. This is a great upcycling project to do to old sweaters or t-shirts, and it would look super cool on any band tee to add a bit of grunge and something different!

Tie-Dye

Tie-dye is the original method of upcycling clothing and most of us can probably even remember doing this project in our childhoods. Around spring and summer time, the tie-dye trend always seems to come back in style and it’s just such an easy and cute way to incorporate fun colours into your wardrobe.  In this video, LaurDIY tie dyes a few different pieces, including a super cute athleisure set!

The Raw Crop

Shortening your tees is one of the simplest ways you can modernize and stylize a top. If you have a sewing machine, you can hem the bottom but just remember to give yourself an extra inch of length, because that will shorten it a little bit. You can also take a simpler route and leave a raw hem like in this video! Rachel Catherine shows her two favourite ways to crop her tops, while giving some tips to ensure a successful and symmetrical crop.

Making scrunchies

Since re-working your wardrobe is all about sustainability and resourcefulness, you can make scrunchies with fabric you have around your home. If you decide to crop one of your tops, use the excess fabric to make a scrunchie so you’re not throwing any fabric away. You could also use old or ruined clothing to give it a second-life as a scrunchie. In this video by JENerationDIY she even uses a curtain to make one and you’ll find that making scrunchies is actually pretty easy, plus you can even make one without a sewing machine, too!

Transforming jeans into distressed shorts

We are soon approaching the warmer weather, and that means it may be time to add shorts back into our wardrobes. While you may not want to cut up your favourite pair of jeans for this upcycle, but if you have an old pair of jeans laying around, try turning them into some cute denim shorts. Vintage denim shorts are already cuter than typical denim shorts and making them at home will save you a little bit of money! In this video, Amber Scholl transformed a pair of old jeans into cute vintage, distressed shorts with only a pair of scissors, tweezers, and an X-ACTO knife!

Turning a dress shirt into a skirt

This one involves a bit of more advanced sewing for those of you who are up for a little challenge and own a sewing machine. WithWendy is a YouTube channel that’s focused on sewing tutorials, and she is also great at explaining sewing in a simple way so anyone with a machine can follow along. In this video, Wendy makes a skirt out of a mens dress-shirt, and spoiler — it turns out super cute. So, if you have an old (oversized) dress shirt laying around, try making it into a skirt for a one of a kind piece.

Half-and-half split T-shirt

This one is another project when a sewing machine would be handy, but there are ways you can craft this look without one since this DIY has pretty simple construction. This video by Daniel Simmons shows you how to achieve this cool half-and-half t-shirt with fabric glue, but if you have a sewing machine, you’ll get even better results! Basically, this DIY takes the half of two different shirts and puts them together at the seam – making one super unique shirt.

Bleaching denim to the perfect light-wash

During the spring, light wash denim is more trendy than dark, so an easy way to make your dark wash denim perfect for spring is by bleaching it and it works on any denim including both jackets and jeans. This super short video by elorabee shows you how to transform your denim at home, using just bleach and water. — it’s such a simple trick!

Trendy and easy DIY tops

In this video RachSpeed is doing “thrift flips” aka upcycling clothing that already exists, showcasing a different ways to transform regular tops into more trendy styles that are being sold from retailers. You can try these out on clothing you already own and this one involves a bit of sewing, so keep that in mind, but overall they are all super cute and simple.

Upcycled denim jacket

As mentioned in the video, upcycled denim jackets are a huge trend for spring this year and even high-end brands have been coming out with them. In this video Sophia Borges shows you how to do it yourself with fabric paint as she documents the entire process of designing and creating her version of a designer upcycled denim jacket. Sophia uses a heat press, but you don’t need one to get the look. Plus, you could even use an iron with a towel if you do want to use heat.

It’s not just killer genetics that leaves our favourite celebrities with glowing and youthful complexions — their strict skincare routines definitely play a major part, too. And while many celebrities are private about their personal lives — what goes down in the privacy of their own homes especially —some celebs have actually invited the public into their bathrooms to reveal their skincare routines. Now we know what you’re thinking, there’s no way you can afford the products that some of your favourite stars use. But as it turns out, most celebrities are just like us and opt for a few wallet-friendly skincare products, many of which you have probably used or heard of before.

From daily facial masks to hydrating serums, read on to discover these 6 celebrity skincare routines. Plus, luckily for us, most of them are more affordable than you might think.

Nina Dobrev

Canadian actress Nina Dobrev shared her getting un-ready routine and while its definitely on the pricier side, we love that there are a couple cheapie drugstore products in the mix. First off she uses Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes ($8), and then for eye makeup, she removes it with the help of Simple Eye Makeup Remover ($11). Next up it’s all about cleansing and Nina uses the Dr. Barbara Sturm Cleanser ($98) which she mixes with exfoliating Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Enzyme Cleanser ($105). Dobrev follows her cleanser with Sturm’s Hyaluronic Acid ($420) and Super Anti-Aging Serum ($490). Moving on, Nina is all about hydrating her lips and to do that she uses the L’Occitane Moisturizing Lip Balm ($16). Then Nina uses her Déesse Mask ($1,900) which, as pricy as it is, is what she uses on breakouts and to get her red-carpet glow. After using the mask, it’s time for moisturizer so Nina goes in with La Mer’s The Moisturizing Soft Cream ($126) and finishes with La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo (+) Global Action Acne Face Treatment ($25).

Camila Mendes

Most people know Camila Mendes as the fiery Veronica Lodge on The CW’s Riverdale. But it turns out she’s also a bonafide skincare buff with an impressive regiment. When getting ready for bed, the actress says she always starts with facial cleansing towelettes to take off her makeup like these wipes with white tea extract from Burt’s Bees ($8). This is followed by a detoxifying cleanser from Renée Rouleau ($41) as well as a detoxifying face mask also from Renée Rouleau that clears hormonal blemishes and bumps while preventing new ones from appearing ($64). While she waits for her mask to finish, the actress says she’ll apply Secret with Essential Oils in Lavender and Eucalyptus deodorant ($11.99). Next up is a purifying toner from Tracie Martyn ($79), followed by a moisturizing serum from Whal Myung ($80), and an anti-aging moisturizer from Sulwhasoo ($317). Next, the actress applies a coffee-infused lip balm from frank body ($12) before using her Nurse Jamie Uplift Massaging Beauty Roller along her jawline to release tension ($89), followed by a spot treatment also from Renée Rouleau ($49.50).

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner, the beauty mogul, has also shared a step-by-step guide to her skincare regimen that she says she’s been using regularly. And, as you could imagine, it includes all Kylie Skin products which are shockingly affordable. To get started, Kylie says she washes her face with her foaming face wash ($24), and then a few times a week she’ll use her walnut face scrub to remove dead skin ($22). Next up is the vanilla milk toner, which Kylie says smells incredible ($22), followed by her vitamin c serum ($28), then her face moisturizer ($24), which she says she’ll actually use as her base for her makeup rather than using a primer, and then finally her eye cream ($20), which hydrates and moisturizes the skin.

Ella Mai

Not only is Ella Mai an extremely talented R&B singer, but it turns out she’s also a pretty knowledgeable skincare expert, too. When getting ready, the “Boo’d Up” singer starts by using a sensitive Burt’s Bees facial cleanser ($14.99), followed by spraying Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist ($42) all over her face before gently dabbing it in to let it air dry. Next up is a Jurlique serum that nourishes and balances the skin, followed by Burt’s Bees Vanilla Lip Balm, which the singer says she always has in her pocket. ($3.59).

Zara Larsson

Swedish celebrity Zara Larsson is always travelling around the world for gigs, which is why she swears by her skincare routine. In case she hasn’t removed all of her makeup from the night before, she’ll use Bioderma Micellar Water ($19.90), followed by a soothing toner that’s sensitive skin-friendly from Darphin ($55) that the singer says smells like banana candy. Next up is an aloe vera and chamomile infused face mask from Dr. Barbara Sturm ($168) to help with the singer’s dry skin from travelling. Finally, the singer will apply Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Moisturizer ($18), which the singer says a number of her makeup artists have used on her skin over the years. Plus, the singer says it doubles as a primer.

Olivia Culpo

Model and actress Olivia Culpo is always jet setting around the world for work, which means she needs to keep a pretty strict skincare regime to keep her flawless complexion. And as you could imagine, her skincare routine works wonders and includes both drugstore and higher-end products. When getting ready after a long day at work, Olivia begins her routine by removing her makeup with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes ($7). She also shared that if she ever needs extra help removing makeup, she’ll take a wipe and apply Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil ($15.45) to take off stubborn eye makeup. Next up, she uses Dr. Barbara Sturm Enzyme Cleanser ($105.06), followed by Sanitas Brightening Peel Pads ($74). Next, she’ll use Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel ($22.50), which visibly reduces dullness and uneven texture, pores, and dark spots. This is followed by Skin Design London Designer Balm ($147.08), which peels, plumps, smooths, and hydrates skin. Next, Olivia uses a very luxe facial oil from La Mer ($182.10), which she then massages into her skin with Nurse Jamie Amethyst Massaging Beauty Tool ($125). For her eyes, Olivia applies a de-puffing and hydrating cream from  Dr. Barbara Sturm ($182) and then finally she settles her skin with a firming, collagen-boosting facial toner from Eminence ($38).

Jason Priestley gives back to the community, is serious about his fibre intake, cringes at the thought of ’90s fashion resurfacing, and knew 90210 had become a hit when Luke Perry had to be smuggled out of a shopping mall in a laundry hamper.

Homegrown actor and director Priestley (a.k.a. forever Brandon Walsh in the hearts of those of us old enough to remember, thank you) hit Toronto’s Broadview Hotel for breakfast last week to support Mott’s FruitsationsBuy A Cup Give a Cup campaign in partnership with the Breakfast Club of Canada (BCC). The BCC works to ensure that children across the country have access to a healthy breakfast – something many may take for granted.

From now until March 31, 2020, Mott’s Fruitsations will donate one cup of apple sauce for every cup purchased (up to 500,000 cups) to help Canadian children start their days with a nutritious breakfast.

“It’s important to me because I’m a parent and I know how important it is for my kids to have breakfast in the morning,” said Priestley in a post-breakfast interview.

“So, when I heard that one in four kids here in Canada have a problems having access to healthy food in the morning, I felt like getting the word out about the Buy a Cup Give a Cup program was the right thing to do. It’s such an easy way for Canadians to give to this program and to give to the Breakfast Club of Canada.”

– Jason Priestly

Apparently, Priestley is a fan of the apple sauce himself. “Being over 50 now – I mean, barely over 50 (laughs) – I have to worry about fibre now, and they have this new Mango Peach flavour that has added fibre,” says Priestley, when asked of his favourite Mott’s Fruitsations flavour. “I don’t know how they add the fibre to it, but it has added fibre. Apparently, I have to worry about that now, so that’s my favourite flavour.”

While hearing that your childhood crush (well, one of them; can anyone really decide between sweet Brandon and bad boy Dylan?) is 50 isn’t exactly the easiest pill to swallow, the reality is that Priestley hasn’t changed all too much appearance-wise from his teen heartthrob days.

Speaking of his West Beverly Hills High School era, Priestley says he was able to avoid the pitfall of a downward spiral that can accompany fame at a young age thanks to his work ethic.

“That was really what my parents instilled on me,” said Priestley. “I came from a very blue-collar family and your self-worth was really tied into your work ethic, and so I just worked very hard to remain focused and work hard, so that didn’t leave me a lot of time to get in trouble.” Refreshing.

So, what else did we learn about Priestley? He has a soft spot for the ocean (one of the best parts about his hometown Vancouver, he says), loves Toronto’s multiculturalism and its Caribbean food, and his daughter likes to watch old episodes of 90210 – and laugh at him. As for his favourite episode of 90210? “The simple answer to that is “Donna Martin Graduates,” said Priestley.

Check out a part of our interview with Jason Priestly below.

In a world that’s consumed by fast fashion, it’s refreshing to see makers who still use traditional techniques in their craft.

Take for example, Coup de Tête, a duo that consists of west coast Hat Maker Jay Mitchell and Toronto Leather Smith Ryan Tavares. The team creates one-of-a-kind pieces by hand, with the idea that each piece will last a lifetime.

Primarily a bespoke house, Coup de Tête plays with traditional hat making traditions and caters each piece to its wearer.

Clients can choose from different styles, felts, colours, and shapes, as well as finer details like distressing.

When creating a custom piece with Coup De Tête, also known as those guys that “light hats on fire,” you’re guaranteed to walk away with something that not only captures your spirit and style, but will outlast any other garment in your wardrobe.

We had the opportunity to drop by the studio in Toronto and see Jay Mitchell in action. Take a peek below.
